In 2009, everything changed. I flipped school upside down by creating the Integrated Studies Program: an asynchronous learning environment, consisting of face to face and online components, designed with the needs of each individual learner in mind. I was a co-founder of the Edcamp movement and helped to launch Edcamp Philly in 2010. I opened a shared folder in google docs to fellow science teachers; over 100 colleagues (and counting) piled in, sharing nearly 1000 (and counting) lessons. This shared folder has grown into the community that we now call the SciDo Collaborative.

I often wonder how I got here. I am feeling the need to share in more than 140 characters. It is why I created this blog. I hope that you come along for the ride.

  1. We all wonder how we got here! Good luck with your blogging!

  2. Telling stories is all part of the human experience. Started with cave paintings. Grunts around the fire. We have a need to express ourselves.

I started out my blogs because I was and continue to tell stories on Twitter one tweet at a time. You can blame it on Ira. He insisted I had to write about this stuff. Since then guys like David Timony have joined the chorus. Both of them have said, write a book.

Whether I finally write a book or not, the connections I have made are powerful. I spent a good part of this morning going back and forth with Chris Vacek on this last blog post.

We all have a need to connect. And based upon what little you’ve shared here, I am venturing that you’ve all ready started something really big.

  3. […] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Dave Meister, Mike Ritzius. Mike Ritzius said: Oh, by the way, I have begun blogging http://ritzi.us/?p=25 […]
